Our favorite mexican restaurant in town (along with a few other stores/restaurants) burned down a few nights ago. Luckily no one was hurt. The fire occurred on one of the coldest nights of the year. According to the newspaper, the firefighters who fought the blaze took turns going into warming centers they had to set up because their jackets and pants would become so encrusted with ice that they couldn’t move. They also had to bring in a special thawing team to prevent the fire hoses from turning into blocks of solid ice. The street, trees and nearby buildings were all caked in solid ice from the spray of the fire hoses.
