J loves his twilight turtle but he doesn’t like going into a dark room all by himself to play with it.  So he came into my room and grabbed R by the hand and said “R want to come into the bathroom with me?  We can look at the stars together!”  And gently led R away from the cars he was playing with into the bathroom.  When R hesitated to walk into the dark bathroom, I overheard J say “Don’t be scared R, I’ll hold your hand.”  (Cue heart melting.)

It’s a start on the way to “acorn.”  And with all that effort to talk, it is such a pity that his mom was teaching him it was an acorn instead of a pine cone.  #kidsfriedmybrain

That’s about how many times he went down this slide.  Good parenting = standing at the bottom of the slide (because it has a rather steep drop off at the bottom) for what seems like hours while your kid runs up the stairs, across the jungle gym and then goes down the slide over and over and over and over.  The beauty of it is – it never gets old for them.  He has the same level of excitement and happiness with each and every slide down.  (excuse the iPhone picture)

This kid has zero fear when it comes to trying everything at the playground.  It’s so much fun to watch him figure things out and then see the look of pride and happiness when he accomplishes what he set out to do.
