The ornaments aren’t even on the tree yet and these two are already obsessed with it and pulling the lights off.  Uh ohhhhhh.  Good thing we switched out all our ornaments to plastic last year.

We tried again to find a tree.  No luck out in the field.  However, refusing to go home empty handed, we did buy a pre-cut tree  And I have to say, despite our efforts and the multiple tree farms we hit, this may be one of the ugliest Christmas trees I have ever had (although still not as ugly as our office carpet).  But I guess we can do our best to “help it fulfill it’s Christmas tree destiny.”  (“Friends” reference – still love that show!)

This is our elf, named Nicholas by J. I am not entirely sure my 2 year old understands the difference between Santa (St. Nicholas) and our Elf… I think he might think they are the same person… ha ha ha.

We fully intended to go tag a tree in October, but life got in the way.  When we got to Plut’s, all the good trees were tagged already.  My (now infamous) “Christmas is ruined!” phrase from years past may or may not have been uttered…

Whipping up a few of my special cheesecakes for Thanksgiving!  One of the few things I actually bake from scratch.

I remember reading in one of the (many many) baby books I read, about deferred imitation.  The author was basically saying how parents need to watch their behavior around their children, no matter the age, because even young children carefully watch what we do and then repeat that behavior, even if it is months later.  So today J walks up to me in the kitchen and asks for a towel.  He puts it on the floor and then wraps Mike up in it.  Then, as he is holding Mike like a baby,  he starts gently bouncing up and down going “shhhh shhhh shhhh shhhhh.”   Imagine my surprise because I used to do this with R when he was an infant in order to get him to fall asleep or to calm down…. and that was, oh, I don’t know, at least a year ago!!  I was stunned.  Then J proceeded to do this with his other babies.  Laying each one down on the couch after a little while because he said they were sleeping and needed a nap.
