More than a week. Day 133/365

Even the smallest of construction projects blows through deadlines.  What was supposed to be a 3-day project to replace the tile and carpet in the office is now looking more like a 3+ week project thanks to leaky radiator.  Mind you, this is the same leaky radiator that was replaced a month ago.  And the one we replaced a month ago?  Yeah, that one replaced the one we bought 7 months ago in March.  Three leaky radiators in 8 months.  To quote our plumber, Terry (who we love), “that’s what happens when you ship manufacturing off to China.  And unfortunately, this type of radiator is so old and uncommon, I’m not sure I can find anyone else who still makes them other than the Chinese.”  Whoever said old houses are “charming” never lived in one.  So here are we are … ugly carpet still in place while the other half of the office is a small disaster area.  Luckily, all the furniture forms a small blockade so the kiddos can’t get back there.

Need.More.Cars. Day 131/365

No matter how many of these cars we buy, it seems like we always need more.  Partly because J hoards them for his “line-ups.”  But also because R has a habit of throwing them into the garbage … and Mama and Dada don’t always notice they are in there.  So I guess, in a way, everyone plays a part in our need for more cars.

In a perfect world…he’d use a spoon. Day 129/365

The theme for this week’s assignment in my 365 group was “imperfection.”

Happy (would’ve been) 66th. Day 128/365

Obviously, I didn’t take this picture today.  But no other picture could have topped this one for today.

ABC car. Day 126/365

Rebecca Feldman and Burrini Daughter’s have something in common.  J is obsessed with their cars.  Feldman had her political campaign signs plastered all over her red minivan (that is, until she lost the election) and the cleaning ladies also have advertising all over their car.  J calls both cars the “ABC’s car.”  I know I should correct him and tell him that they are called “letters” but I just think it’s so cute that every time he sees a letter he calls it an “ABC.”  I  can’t bring myself to correct “hammygerber” either.  If he heads off to college misusing either term, I’ll correct it then.

Ugly. Day 125/365

The carpet, of course.  NOT the baby.  He’s just too cute for words.  Working his car ramp as he rocks his diaper.

Only one more week left with this ugly carpeting!!

It’s awake!!! Day 124/365

Most of the time when we pass this site, the excavator is parked and not doing anything.  The conversation usually goes like this:  “why isn’t the excavator moving?”  “It is sleeping.”  “Without any covers?”  “Yes, it doesn’t need blankets babe.  It doesn’t get cold like you and I do.” “Oh.  Ok Mama.”  On this day we got out for our walk earlier than usual and the constructions workers were still on site AND they were using the excavator.  Despite how loud it was, I could hear the shrieks of excitement from both kiddos (although I am not sure R really knew what he was so excited about!).
