Everytime we go for a walk – and I mean eeevvverrrytttime – J asks if we can go into town. It’s been an unseasonably cool and low humidity August so on Saturday we obliged him and walked into town to have dinner in the park. This kid may be smarter than we give him credit for because if he straight out asked for pizza and hot dogs for dinner, we’d probably say no. But this is the typical dinner fare when we picnic in the park in town.
Heeey! Day 42/365
My little man is so close to walking. While I am excited for him to meet this milestone, it’s also sad. I guess because he is my second, I still think of him as a little baby. But when I’m buying him 24 month sized clothing and shoes (the kid hasn’t worn shoes since he was born!), there’s no denying that he’s growing up into a toddler.

Mud. Day 41/365
Hmmm, where is Bauer going?
Ohhhh, that’s where he was going! Looks like fun. Maybe I’ll just dip my toes in.
And my hands too.
Hmm, she hasn’t yelled yet. Let’s try going for a walk in here.
So far so good. Running is SO much more fun!!!!
And I’m stiiiillll rrrruuunnniiinnnggg!!
Phew, I’m tired from all the running. Good idea, Bauer. I think I’ll sit down too.
Yeah, let’s bark at those people walking toward us! WOOF!
And home, for the clean-up.

R.I.P. big red vacuum. Day 39/365
As I have said before, J looooooves the vacuum. He gets super excited when “the ladies” come on “dursdays” because “they have a big black bacuum and a liddle lellow bacuum.” However, our cleaning ladies have been on hiatus because they take vacation in August. So they haven’t been here in awhile and as a result, I can’t even tell you the number of times he has asked me where they are with “their big black bacuum” and “their liddle lellow bacuum” and whether their “big red bacuum has new basheries yet?” and that I should tell the “ladies” that “it needs to be chaaged.” The “big red bacuum” was the one they used to come with, but it is broken. And not it-can-be-fixed-broken, but let’s-trash-it-broken. Apparently, in the mind of a 2 year old whenever something is broken, it needs new batteries or it needs to be charged. So in honor of the big red vacuum who is in vacuum heaven and causing much heartbreak to the J …

Panty raid. Day 38/365
Someone got into Mama’s underwear drawer!! Maybe there is a reason they are called “boy shorts?” All I can say is, at least he didn’t get them from the dirty laundry basket.

Jazz. Day 37/365
We hit up the Jazz Festival on the Morristown green. Good music. Dirty water dogs. A fountain for the kids to splash in. A well behaved dog. And a fantastic mustache on the guy in the blue shirt. And it was all free! Woohoo!!

Things monkeys love: lunch with friends. Day 36/365
Lunch buddies. I happened to overhear a few snippets that went like this: “Don’t fall down Mike.” “You need fresh water.” “I’m going to switch cups.” “You can have the green fork.” “Let’s switch seats.” It sounded like a very friendly lunch.

The stinging variety. Day 35/365
I participate in a group of women who are all doing 365 Projects. Every week we have a challenge or theme for one day. This week it was insects. When you are afraid of most bugs this doesn’t leave many options – pretty much butterflies or bees. I had initially chosen the non-stinging variety, however, they didn’t cooperate with me this week. So…. bzzzzzzzzz.

They go under the water? Day 34/365
We went to the zoo today. We saw so many animals but the thing that amazed J the most was that some of the animals went under the water. And he could watch them do it. He just thought it was the.coolest.thing.ever.
