R does not like books. I can maybe get through 2 or 3 pages before he pushes it out of his way to go explore something else. This is quite a change from J, who loved books and would sit with you for almost an hour just looking through books, flipping pages, and touching all the different textures. So in an effort to garner more interest, I took R to the library to pick out some books. He had a blast pulling them off the shelves and trying to eat them. It remains to be seen whether we can up the page count.

Cars. Day 16/365

J was sick and pretty miserable. He didn’t want to do much so after much trial and error with Amazon Prime on the Roku, we finally downloaded Cars so that J could watch his first ever movie. He looooooved it. (for about 15 minutes).
King for a day. Day 15/365.
R and I headed to Maryland for A’s second birthday party. Dada had shingles, so he stayed home with J and they had a boys weekend to themselves. R loved having Mama all to himself and playing with all the new toys at A and A’s house! I think he also liked the fact that no one there tried to push him aside or grab the toys out of his hands while he was playing.
Uncle Opie had fun trying to teach R to appreciate solid food.
And the birthday girl got to kick the cups over as many times as she wanted. A successful day for all.
Driving this rig can’t be that hard. Day 13/365

When we got home from the Creamery, J did not want to get out of the car. He wormed out of his carseat and threw himself over the edge of it into the middle seat in the back row. I wasn’t about to climb in and drag him out, so we played in the car for awhile until he worked his way into the front seat and I coaxed him out with a red fish (i.e., a swedish fish). I’m not above bribery.
On a side note, he went so nuts jamming to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” when it came on the radio that he whacked his head onto the steering wheel. I felt bad laughing, but I really couldn’t help it.
Hoard much? Day 12/365

Mike.
Bla-kit.
Red train.
Red car.
White car.
Green car.
Red car.
Sippy cup.
These are J’s “required” items for naps and bedtime. It used to just be Mike. Then it was Mike and his sippy cup. Yada yada yada. It will be interesting to see how many other items are in there by the time he is 3!
My favorite J man time. Day 11/365

After R goes to bed, J and I have a little bit of time to hang out before his slightly later bedtime. We usually just sit on the couch and snuggle watching Princess Sophia, Fresh Beat Band or African Cats. These are the some of the moments I live for and will miss when he doesn’t want to snuggle with me anymore.
Hi Dada! Day 9/365

Bathtime is so much easier when Dada is there to keep a hand on the wild man.
Bzzzzz. Day 8/365

Thanks to Mary’s mad gardening skills we’ve got these guys flying all around the yard.
Garbage Truck!! Day 7/365

I opened the window to take a picture of our office using the ledge as my “tripod.” When J-man heard the garbage truck coming he jumped up onto the bench under the window and got so excited that he knocked the screen right out of the window.
